Without the aid of Firm Foundation Christian Academy, I don’t think that our homeschool experience would be as fruitful as it has been in the lives of our children. Yes, my wife is an extremely capable and hard-working teacher, and there is no doubt that educationally, our children are in excellent hands. However, the community environment of FFCA is a vital part of many homeschooling families that enroll their children.
The model of FFCA is a mixed-model where they affirm that primary instruction in the home is the ideal situation. FFCA comes alongside that and offers their services to build the homeschool family’s community with support and services (testing, record keeping, homeschool support, etc.) and additional group engagements (my kids look forward to the park days and yearly theatrical production).
FFCA also offers classes on Friday’s at local church in Glendora, CA. Subjects in the arts, sciences, and literature for K-12 students offers a learning environment for building community with other students and families.
I have had the opportunity to teach a few classes for the Jr. High and High School students and I truly appreciate the small community environment where students and their families are committed to the Christian faith as much as they are to academics.
If you are looking into homeschooling your children, I recommend partnering with an organization and community like Firm Foundation Christian Academy.
